
Building Blocks Afghan Class
Building Blocks is a series of knitted blocks designed to develop major knitting techniques building upon skills of the previous block. This includes stitches beyond knit and purl, reading patterns and charts, simple lace, finishing techniques, and more. This class starts January 9th and will meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month from 12pm-2pm. You must be confident in long tale cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, and basic bind off.
Materials need for class:
Book: “Building Blocks” by Michelle Hunter
Yarn: 140 yards / 100 grams per skein, Bulky weight (#5 weight). We recommend pacific chunky and comfort chunky yarns purchased from Off the Rails Quilting
Solid color version – 10 skeins
Two color version – 10 skeins (5 skeins of each color)
Multi-color version – 12 skeins (one of each color)
(If your yarn is not a pull skein, please have your first class color wound ready to go before class.)
Needles: US #10 - 24” circular needles (preferred) or US #10 straight needles, cable needle (hook style preferred) and a tapestry needle (blunt tip).
Locking stitch markers, removable type like a safety pin
Sticky notes , Pencil or pen, scissors, and note paper.
